Guide

How To Resize An Image

You can resize an image online in three steps. Add your photo, choose the new size by percentage or in pixels, and download it. No account, no upload to a server, nothing to install.

  1. Add Your Images

Drag a photo onto the page, click Choose images, or paste one with Ctrl+V. You can resize one picture or a whole batch at once, in JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF.

  2. Choose The New Size

Pick 25%, 50% or 200%, or type your own percentage. Need an exact size? Switch to By pixels and type the width or height in px. The other side follows, so the photo keeps its shape.

  3. Press Resize

Your resized photo downloads straight away, with the same name plus “-resized”. So holiday.jpg becomes holiday-resized.jpg. Several images arrive together in one ZIP.

Pixels Or Percentage?

Both change the image size. Which one to use depends on whether you need an exact number.

By percentage

When you just want it smaller

Every side shrinks or grows by the same amount, so the photo always keeps its shape.

By pixels

When a site asks for an exact size

Type the width or height in px. Keep the shape locked, or unlock it to fit an exact box.

Photo And Signature Size For Exam Forms

Government job and exam forms in India ask for a photo and signature at an exact size in pixels and a file size in KB. Here are the sizes for IBPS, SBI, SSC, UPSC, Railway and NEET forms, and how to resize your photo and signature so the form accepts them first time.

  1. Resize To The Pixel Size

In the resize tool above, choose By pixels and type the size from your form, like 200 × 230 for a photo or 140 × 60 for a signature. Add your scan or photo and press Resize.

  2. Compress To The KB Limit

Most forms also set a file size, like 20 to 50 KB. Run the resized file through the image compressor. Pick Smallest file if it is still over the limit.

    Open the image compressor

Sizes change from one notification to the next. Always check the official notice for your exam before you upload, and follow it if it says something different.

Bank Exams: IBPS, SBI And RRB Bank

IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, IBPS RRB, SBI PO, SBI Clerk and most public sector bank forms use the same four sizes. All files are JPG.

Passport Size Photo In Pixels

A standard Indian passport size photo is 3.5 × 4.5 cm (35 × 45 mm). At print quality, 300 DPI, that is 413 × 531 pixels. Many forms that just say "passport size photo" accept this.

Resize Image FAQ

Quick answers about resizing photos by pixels or percentage, keeping the quality, and getting the right size for social media and exam forms.

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp, because there are plenty of pixels to work with. This tool shrinks large photos in steps, which keeps fine detail like hair and small text crisp.

Making an image bigger is different. At 200% the image has more pixels but no new detail, so it can look a little soft up close. Start from the largest original you have.

Resizing changes the width and height in pixels, for example from 4000 × 3000 to 1200 × 900. Compressing keeps the width and height the same and makes the file smaller in KB.

If a website or form asks for both a pixel size and a KB limit, resize here first, then run the file through the image compressor.

Keep the link icon between Width and Height switched on. Type one side and the other follows, so the photo keeps its shape and nothing gets stretched.

If you need an exact size in a different shape, click the link to unlock it and leave Crop to fill selected. The edges are trimmed evenly instead of the photo being squashed.

Choose By pixels, click the link icon to unlock the shape, and type 1080 for both the width and the height. Leave Crop to fill selected and press Resize. Your photo is trimmed evenly and saved as a 1080 × 1080 square.

Or click Instagram square post in the social media size guide and it is all set up in one click.

Yes. Choose several files or drop them on the page together. Every image gets the same setting, and they download together in one ZIP file, each with “-resized” added to its name.

Click the Photograph row in the exam form sizes section and the tool is set to 200 × 230. Add your photo and press Resize. The same works for a 140 × 60 signature.

If the form also has a KB limit, compress the resized file afterwards. Always check your exam’s official notice, since sizes can change.

Yes. The image resizer works in Chrome, Safari and other phone browsers, with no app to install. Tap Choose images, pick photos from your gallery, and the resized files save to your downloads.

No. Your images are resized inside your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for personal documents and ID photos.

You can resize JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF images. The resized image keeps its original format, and under Save as you can switch to JPG, WebP or PNG instead. GIFs are saved as a still PNG.
